How long is the course?

CDI’s Commercial Dive Program is approximately 4.5 months (658hr) (Day Classes).

What is a typical day like during the CDI Commercial Dive Program?

Class begins at 7 am to begin training. During the first several sessions, students participate in diving physics, diving medicine, and dive chart training before helmet orientation dives and underwater work training. Underwater work training is focused on utilizing various diving rigs, dry suits, hot water suits, lift bags, and associated equipment.

Final stage training is spent in the tanks and at the Lake conducting underwater projects/Diving Drills. The last few weeks are spent at the campus going through rigging and underwater welding courses, final career preparation, and job placement assistance. The course schedule is Tuesday through Thursday from 7 am to 5 pm and Friday from 7 am to 4 pm.

Does this program qualify for VA benefits?

The CDI program is approved for GI BILL ®. Many of our students are military veterans, we have a Financial Aid Administrator who specializes in VA-related matters and is certified SCO.

Is this school financial aid approved?

Yes, CDI has a financial aid department that will walk each student through the FASFA process to ensure all paperwork gets submitted properly. We have additional funding sources available to those who qualify. We have a very qualified and dedicated staff at CDI that will assist you every step of the way thus allowing our students to focus on training and their new career.

Do you offer Career placement?

All CDI graduates have LIFETIME career placement Assistance. We are proud of our success in career placement and advertise our rates publicly as required by the US Department of Education. We will begin working with you on your career portfolio and resume preparation just before graduation and then you will be notified of all current openings. Commercial diving contractors and companies are in constant contact with CDI to inquire about our grads as they are in high demand.

Do you have PT/FT Jobs while I am going to school?

Yes, we have resources and employers that hire our students. We are located very near to some of the largest distribution centers in the Phoenix area. Please ask your friendly Admissions or Student Services Administrators to provide you with a list.

Are there any prerequisites or prior experience required to attend the commercial dive program?

The requirements are a high school diploma or GED and the basic ability to swim. No diving experience is necessary for this program. You may upload or bring your transcripts to the Campus or request to have your high school, college transcripts, or military JSTs sent to the admissions office. An approved diving physical exam is required before being scheduled for the commercial diving program.

Dive physicals can be obtained by a medical doctor, please contact admissions for a local list of approved DRs in our area. It is important to begin this process early to secure a spot in the class. Classes fill quickly, contact an Admissions Advisor now to get started.
